Teak or Tectona grandis is native to mainly Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Burma. Teak wood contains an oil that helps the wood to be water resistant this same oil content protects the Teak from decay, insects and bacteria.

Caring for java teak wood
This beautiful wood is hardy but does need a little care. Hand-wash with only mild soap and water don't let the item soak and dry right away with a soft cloth. Never sir dry teak items or put them into the fridge or dishwasher. Store your bowl away from direct sunlight, heaters and the oven. Occasionally rub with olive oil to maintain the finish.
